Welcome to Convello! Here is an easy-to-follow set of rules we've come up with just to make sure things go smoothly. Or as smoothly as can be expected. It looks like a lot, but most of them are common sense rules. Bear with us. We're not new at this, and for the most part, these are things we've had to pick up along the way.
With no further ado...
THE RULES
1.) This site is a PG-13 - R rated RPG. There will indeed be swearing and there will be very intimate moments, which I will speak about later. Swearing is allowed, as most people who write and speak will swear at times, so I'm not going to block it from the website and say that it's unrealisitic for a 14 year old to run around swearing. But, like all things, it's best in moderation. Think PG-13 - R, not XXX.
2.) Be polite and courteous to others. We don't want to see any racial/sexual/religious/gender descrimination on this board. It shouldn't matter what color or gender anyone is, since all you will see is their posts.
3.) Sex/Sexuality - It IS allowed. All we ask is that you give us all a warning in the topic description. As for sexuality, be what you want. We don't care. It's unrealistic not to allow a gay or bisexual character.
4.) REGISTER BEFORE BEING SORTED. Please register with your character name before posting posting in any sorting/application area. Make sure it is a FIRST and LAST name, at least, with a space between the names. We will delete without warning if you do not comply. You can modify your profile to change the name's appearance.
Examples:
Bad Names: harrypotterluvr0927
Good Names: Julia Tomb
5.) Shops - We have them, and you can run one. However, there is a lime to ONE (1) per person, just to keep it fair to everyone else and so that everyone can have one.
6.) Clubs - We will be running at least two schoolwide clubs this term. However, you can make a special interest club of your own. Please just keep it realistic (or unrealistic, as it were). Would they have a track team at Hogwarts? Probably not.
7.) Classes - We do ask that everyone is active in at least ONE (1) class. We will have terms on here, and classes must be active to be able to pass to the next year. As for professors, if you sign up for a class, stick with it or give us notice so we can fill it in.
8.) Once you are sorted, there are NO exceptions to having a house change. We reserve the right to cut off any particular years if the numbers are extremely high compared to others (i.e. there are 25 5th years, and like 2 Second years).
9.) Post in third person, past tense - such as "Bob walked to the store." Also, write as if you are writing a book. None of the **, :: ::, - -, etc. will be allowed for a post.
10.) Have fun! RPGs are meant to be fun, and I hope that you all find Convello to be a fun place to be.
11.) You can tag new posts meaning if you see <> or something in the Topic and it's not your name, DO NOT POST. If the administrators get complaints about that, your posts will be deleted. Tags are used to advance a personal storyline.
12.) Also we will NOT accept characters from the books. This takes place after Harry and the gang leave. So we trust you to use your imaginations to make up new characters. Also, we will not be allowing Harry's, Draco's Ron's, etc, grandchildren or children. No Weasly's, Potter's, Malfoy's, Granger's, etc.
13.) If you are going to create threads where your character harms him or herself, please don't do it frivolously. Use all threads to advance the storyline, and make it something that people will reply to.
14.) There is to be NO harming of one's character without the permission from both that character's RPer, and an Administrator. This excludes fist fighting, duels, and grabbing someone tightly. This does NOT exclude the stabbing, slitting, or shooting another's character. Failure to comply with this rule will be subject to a heavy consquence, whether it be suspension, or a permanent ban.
15.) Powerplaying is a huge "no, no." It will not be happening. For those who are novice RPers, powerplaying is when you say what happens to someone else's character without their permission.
16.) You are allowed to have more than one character here on Convello. We ask that you please seperate your characters with seperate accounts. Please try not to register more characters than you can manage.
17.) If you do not take the O.W.L or N.E.W.T (of which we will be informing you one week in advance), you will be forced to stay behind and not continue with your classmates. If this happens a second time, your character will be expelled (unable to post on School Grounds, excluding the Forbidden Forest) and unable to graduate.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOUR CHARACTER IS DELETED!
It simply states that you MAY NOT post on School Grounds. Your Character will be stripped of their title (and unable to use magic, without getting in trouble with the MOM. You have to be in school, if your an undergraduate, to use magic).
18.) In an attempt to make this more realistic, we've determined that only third years and up may post in Hogsmeade. However, we understand that students will try to sneak in. This is where it could get fun. We reserve the right to "catch" you at any time, resulting in loss of house points, and suspension of your character. Does this mean you will get caught? No. But we like to keep you on your toes.
